Archivio di Stato di Caserta

Library

The library of the State Archive of Caserta is an internal library of the Institute. However, it is available to scholars who frequent the Study Room, allowing them access to publications to support their archival research.

Among the works owned by the Library of the State Archive of Caserta, noteworthy are those related to the history of Caserta and the municipalities of its extensive Province, the history of institutions, archival studies, paleography and diplomacy, as well as auxiliary sciences of history (numismatics, heraldry, sphragistics, etc.).

In recent years, the institute's library has been enriched by:

The Giuseppe Capobianco Library, with almost 7,000 books and/or pamphlets and 319 periodical titles. It is a thematic library on the history of the Italian Communist Party (P.C.I.), the Italian General Confederation of Labour (C.G.I.L.), and the role of the trade union from the post-war period to the 1990s.

The Mario Pignataro Library, consisting of 650 monographs and nearly 200 periodical titles of various kinds, addressing the socio-economic theme of the city of Caserta and its surroundings from the post-war period to the present.

The Paolo Pietro Broccoli Library, with over 1,000 monographs, 200 newspaper titles, 41 audio cassettes (mostly live-recorded speeches by the philosopher Cacciari), and over 100 posters covering social, political, and union themes.

The Andrea Sparaco Library, a draftsman, consisting of about a hundred art books, an equal number of posters, and many of his drawings.

The total number of library materials currently exceeds 12,000 items, including a wide range of periodicals. However, due to technical reasons, the library is not currently available for the users.
