Requests and certifications for administrative use

To obtain certified copies of documents with legal value, the user must adhere to the following rules:

The request for each individual document must be made separately, specifying the exact archival location.

The request must be accompanied by:

Copy of the requester's ID

Delegation letter if applicable

Copy of the delegate's ID

Copy of the payment receipt

Stamp duty, according to current stamp duty regulations, must be applied to the document copy, with one stamp for every four normal pages (protocol format). Legalizations and apostilles at the Prefecture are the responsibility of the interested parties.

The Institute will authenticate the photocopied document, indicating the requester's details, the particulars of the reproduced document, and any other useful information for document recognition.

For those requesting a paper copy of the certificate, it is recommended to send a standard-sized envelope (23x11 cm) pre-stamped or an international reply coupon, both filled out with the shipping address.

Regarding requests for obtaining Italian citizenship iure sanguinis, note that State Archives are not Municipal Civil Status Offices and do not issue registry certifications. Users should contact the Civil Status Office of the municipality where the original act was registered to obtain the desired registry certificate.
