In particular, the area that currently corresponds to the Variconi protected area is reproduced, extending about one hundred and ninety hectares, a refuge for more than two hundred species of birds. Since 1995, the area has been part of the Foce del Volturno and Costa di Licola Natural Reserve of the Campania Region.
